The Cumberland County murder trial of Toby Lane has been delayed until later this year.

The 45-year-old Lane is charged with first degree murder as well as aggravated domestic battery in the July 2020 death of Bridget Duncan. Duncan died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Lane's trial was to begin in August, but at a hearing Thursday, Judge Jonathan Braden granted a defense motion for appointment of a forensic pathologist. Lane has also requested appointment of a private investigator, and Braden agreed to take that request under advisement. A further hearing is slated for August 10.

Due to the pending motions, Braden vacated the August jury trial, and rescheduled the trial for November 1.

Lane remains in custody under $1 million bond.
