Effingham Water Authority trustees have agreed to assist with additional signage advising boaters of the No Wake Zone at the Marina at Lake Sara.

Brian Larson of the Marina said he would supply the float for the sign if the Water Authority would pay for the sign. It was agreed to develop a three-foot-by-four-foot sign.

On another matter, Larson asked if the Water Patrol at the lake could carry boat stickers for sale to those boaters in violation.

Meanwhile at Lakeside Marina, Noah Brandenburger asked about adding more slips to the property. The slips are restricted to 20 feet unless the existing slips are 24 foot, in an effort to keep the slips uniform. The Board voted to allow the additional slips. Brandenburger also advised they have acquired a liquor license and have added two more pontoons for rental.

Trustees approved a request from John Richards for a donation toward the cost of fireworks at Lake Sara on Saturday, July 3. An $1,100 donation was approved.

The Board heard from Kahn Kellams regarding water usage on his deeded property that was purchased in a tax sale. The Board will schedule a special meeting to look over the property before making a decision.

Also approved was a request from Steve Bushue for a right-to-way to provide access to their deeded property, and a request from Bob Lakin for a re-plat of Lots 10, 11 and 12 of Boos and Grunloh #1. Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer said he reviewed documents related to a spur road off Court 10 at the lake, and recommended not making any of the changes requested. Siemer also updated the Board on Lot 27 of Boos and Grunloh #2. He said he has tried phone calls and a letter, but has received no response. A certified letter will be sent to inform the owners that the Board would be taking action on the matter. A special meeting will be scheduled once the letter has been sent.

Lake resident Jane Montello asked about the number of short-term stay applications received to date, and how the Water Authority plans to address those short-term stays where an application was not turned in. Also, Brad Hastings of the Boating Committee asked whether he could review the reports on boating permits sold in recent years, and there was discussion about new state boating regulations for those 13 and older.
