Windsor school board members this week discussed results of a survey of district staff, students and parents.

Superintendent Erik VanHoveln plans to present the results in a sort of "town meeting" format to the community closer to the start of the school year.

VanHoveln also reviewed proposals from air conditioning vendors. The proposals are to air-condition the two gyms and the cafeteria in the high school building, and the gym, cafeteria and kitchen at the grade school building. The bids were tabled for now.

Board members also adopted an amended budget for the current school year, approved the district insurance bid, authorized the sale and disposition of surplus property, dissolved the Class of 2021 Activity Fund, and created a Class of 2027 Activity Fund.

In personnel moves, the Windsor board accepted the resignation of elementary principal April Drake, who is returning to teaching in the Mattoon school district. Resignations were also accepted from co-elementary school Student Council advisor Janie Ross, assistant high school softball coach Lindsay Floyd, and junior high track coach Dillon Birch.

The Board hired David Stork to succeed Drake as elementary school principal, and also hired Kary Langan as 5th grade teacher, Bailey Leasher as 2023 class sponsor, Peighton Donnel as elementary school morning supervisor, Kris Marsland as part time Art teacher, and Madison Boone as junior high volleyball coach and junior high softball coach.

Windsor board members also granted 3% pay hikes to administrators, and a 1-1/2% pay raise to VanHoveln.
