Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on southbound I-57 at the Farina exit late Friday afternoon.

State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates a truck pulling another vehicle driven by 61-year-old Jerry Bonner of Marianna, Arkansas was traveling southbound when the vehicle being towed blew a tire. Bonner lost control and struck a vehicle in the other southbound lane. That car driven by 56-year-old Maria Esther of St. Cloud, Florida then ran off the left side of the road and overturned in the center median.

Both Esther, and a passenger in her vehicle, a 17-year-old female from Wayland, Michigan, were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Bonner was not hurt.

Southbound traffic was reduced to one lane for two hours following the crash at 4:38 Friday afternoon.
