Update on Human Remains Found in Fayette County

More information has been shared by authorities on the discovery of human remains in Fayette County Wednesday.

Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 was requested by Fayette County Sheriff's Department at 3:30pm Wednesday for assistance in reference to human skeletal remains found by a farmer in an agricultural field north of US Route 40 in the area of 1700 North Street. The remains will be examined by a forensic anthropologist for identification.

Authorities said the investigation is in its infancy, and no further information is available.
