Senate Republicans including 54th State Senator Jason Plummer are charging that Governor Pritzker is using a procedural maneuver to allow his appointees to the Illinois Prisoner Review Board without going through the vetting process used for appointees to other boards and committees.

Plummer is the Minority spokesperson on the Senate Executive Appointments Committee. He said Republicans have requested the Constitutionally-required vetting process to go ahead, but there has been no response.

Pritzker appointed the members to the Review Board in 2019. Just before the clock ran out on the deadline for the appointees to go through the vetting process, the governor withdrew their appointments, and then reappointed them in a maneuver to start the clock again on the appointment deadline.

Plummer said they have asked for the vetting of the appointees politely in the past, but said their requests have fallen on deaf ears to this point. That led to going public with the situation on Monday...

The Senate Executive Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning. None of the governor's Prisoner Review Board appointees are scheduled to testify.
