sunday gathering 640

About 50 people...adults and students...gathered for about 20 minutes Sunday in front of Effingham Junior High School. Their purpose was to protest bullying, particularly actions they say led to an attempted suicide by a local student.

The speaker was the mother of the student.

There were allegations that the Unit 40 school district was at fault for actions that led to the suicide attempt. Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan earlier issued a statement that the District won't tolerate bullying or any actions that put students at risk.
