Tuscola Woman Charged in Fatal Fire East of Paris

A Tuscola woman has been arrested and charged with murder and other offenses in a fatal fire east of Paris.

26-year-old Stefanie L. Sanders was arrested Monday by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5. Sanders was arrested on two counts of first degree murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, one count of aggravated arson, and one count of residential arson.

Zone 5 authorities were requested on March 1 to investigate a residential fire with fatalities that occurred in Vermilion, Illinois. With the assistance of the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office, Edgar County State's Attorney's Office and Edgar County Coroner's Office, Sanders was taken into custody Monday in Charleston.

A man and his infant daughter were killed in the fire.
