Cowden-Herrick school board members Thursday approved a contract with district teachers.

The agreement with Cowden-Herrick Teachers Association Local 3867 will cover the coming three school years.

The Board also accepted the resignation of long-time girls basketball coach Carolyn Wendte. She steps down after 29 years as Cowden-Herrick coach and as the only coach since the Cowden-Herrick and Beecher City sports programs consolidated.

Wendte took three teams to the Final Four and her 2011-2012 squad played for the state championship. She will remain as junior high girls coach and as a teacher for now.

The Cowden-Herrick Board also approved the 2021 Summer School program to be held in the morning during the first three weeks of June; hired Allred's Floor Service to refinish the high school gym floor; and retained Junior Carlisle as bus mechanic for the coming school year.

The Board also hired Kerrie Coughlin as guidance counselor.
