Bid Opening on Jasper County Law Enforcement Center This Month

The bid opening on a Jasper County Law Enforcement Center is scheduled this month.

The Jasper County Board heard at their recent meeting that prospective bidders will be in Newton Tuesday to look the jail over before finalizing their bids on the Enforcement Center project. The bids will be opened on March 25.

The Board then scheduled a special meeting for March 31 to receive the bids to decide how to proceed.

The Board also again discussed the material tax question to appear on the April election ballot. The material tax has been in place in Jasper County since 1991. This will be the sixth time the tax has been on the ballot for renewal. The amount of the tax is not being increased, just renewed at the same rate if approved.
