While the special Effingham County Board meeting to consider findings on the siting of a solid waste landfill outside Effingham has been changed to an open meeting, there will not be time for public comment at the meeting.

County Board Chairman Jim Niemann Monday said at a Board committee meeting that the findings as to siting the landfill have been obtained, so no new testimony will be taken at Thursday's meeting.

The Board could also vote at the special meeting whether to site the landfill. The Board's regular monthly meeting will be held next week if the members decide they need more time to think the matter over. Indications have been that a vote would be taken by the end of March.

If the Board approves the siting, the matter goes to the Illinois EPA.
