Cumberland school board members heard this month that March 12 will mark the end of the district's third quarter. High school principal Kevin Maynard said remote students wishing to return to in-person learning for the fourth quarter should contact the Cumberland High School office.

It was also shared that March 19 will be the first Friday that all students, K-12, will return to in-person learning. Dismissal will continue to be at 2pm Monday-Friday.

Maynard also reported the Cumberland High School Student Council is planning Homecoming activities starting on March 19 and running through March 26.

Cumberland board members voted to set high school graduation for Sunday, May 16 at 2pm. The Board approved a five-year lease of a special needs equipped bus, and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Lake Land College and the Effingham Regional Career Academy.

The Board granted Marjorie Comer leave without pay through the end of March; employed Zach Wolke as high school boys assistant basketball coach; employed Colton Booher as a high school English teacher; employed Bill Hall as a high school Math teacher; accepted the resignation of Kevin Maynard as assistant high school softball coach and then posted that position; and accepted the irrevocable letter of retirement from Michelle Neal effective the last day of school of the 2024-2025 school year.
