IDPH Reports 1,665 COVID Cases Tuesday

The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday reported 1,665 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 27 additional COVID-related deaths.

One death was that of a male in his 70s in Marion County.

The Effingham County Health Department announced ten new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) from Sunday, February 21 through Tuesday, February 23. There were five cases on Sunday, two cases on Monday and three cases on Tuesday.

Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 3.2% through February 20, while Effingham County was at 2.9% for the same period.

The Effingham County Health Department also announces that over 6,000 doses of COVID vaccinehave been distributed in Effingham County with over 1,500 people fully vaccinated.

As of Monday night, 1,488 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 361 patients were in the ICU and 172 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
