COVID-19 has impacted many things in a negative way and that appears to be the case with enrollment at Lake Land College.

Lake Land's Spring Semester 10th day enrollment was at 3,954 students, down 8.1% from Spring Semester 2020. College spokesperson Kelly Allee said the lack of in-person education opportunities due to COVID was a chief factor, especially in the case of short-term training opportunities. Those short-term opportunities are usually done in-person, and those weren't available.

There were some positives seen in the report. The college's retention and completion rate was at 78%, just 1% down from the previous year, indicating that if Lake Land gets a person to enroll, they keep them.

The report shows that Lake Land is still the #1 choice of in-district high school graduates, garnering 53% of last year's grads. Runner-up is Eastern Illinois University, which drew 9% of last year's graduates.
