Things Returning to Normal After 10-Inch Snowstorm

Schools are closed, as are many area businesses, after a snowstorm measuring 10 inches visited Effingham Monday.

The National Weather Service recorded these snowfall totals in our area: 

Effingham 10.2 inches

Watson 8.3 inches

north of Neoga 10.9 inches

Newton 9.7 inches

Toledo 9.5 inches

The snowfall was accompanied by much blowing and drifting of snow, which is continuing today in many areas.

The storm also packed a punch through bitterly cold wind chills, which were regularly between 10 below to 20 below zero.

A number of weather-related crashes were reported in the area, particularly on the interstates around Effingham.

The National Weather Service is indicating we could see more snow on Wednesday, although the early indications are that the storm won't produce more than an inch or so of additional snowfall.
