Two Injured in Friday Cumberland County Crash

At 9:55 Friday night a truck driven by Jason Slifer, an 18 of Effingham, was traveling westbound on 1000 North at the intersection of Illinois Route 121 in Cumberland County. A SUV driven by Loretta Kingery, 54 from Greenup, was traveling southbound on Illinois highway 121. Slifer continued through the intersection without stopping and Kingery  struck Slifer's truck in the passenger side door. 

Slifer and his passenger, Christopher Blackwell, 19 of Effingham, refused medical attention. Kingery and her passenger, Michael Kingery, 56 of Greenup, were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Slifer was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
