Measurable snowfall is expected Saturday evening, with bitterly cold temperatures expected for the week to follow.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of Central Illinois. 2-3 inches of snow is expected for many areas from Saturday afternoon into the evening. As of this writing, Effingham County and areas along Interstate 70 east to Indiana are not under the Advisory. Locally, the National Weather Service says we can expect to see 1-2 inches of snow.

Beyond the snow, frigid temps will settle into the region for next week, with wind chills between zero to -10 degrees expected Sunday morning. Into next week, temperatures will continue to slide, with a high near just 16 degrees expected by Friday.
