3,314 New COVID Cases Statewide Wednesday; One Local COVID-Related Death

The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday reported 3,314 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in the state, including 69 additional COVID-related deaths.

There was one local COVID-related death, that of a man from Effingham County in his 80s.

As of Tuesday night, 2,469 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 520 patients were in the ICU and 270 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The Effingham County Health Department, in addition to the local death, reported just two new positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, following just four new cases on Tuesday. The cases Wednesday were both females, one in her 20s and one in her 60s.

The Illinois Region 6 positivity rolling average was 4.6%, and 5% for Effingham County for the seven days ending January 31.
