20 New Positive COVID Cases Saturday to Monday

The Effingham County Health Department announced 20 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease from Saturday through Monday.

There were eight cases on Saturday, three on Sunday, and nine on Monday.

Here's the demographic breakdown, day to day:

SATURDAY, JANUARY 30--

Males--two in their 50s

Females--two younger than 10 years old, one in her 40s, one in her 50s, one in her 60s and one in her 70s

SUNDAY, JANUARY 31--

Males--none

Females--one in her teens, one in her 40s and one in her 60s

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1--

Males--three in their 20s and two in their 60s

Females--one in her 30s, one in her 40s, one in her 60s and one in her 70s

Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 4.6% through January 29, while Effingham County was 5% for the same period.

Health Department officials ask everyone to continue masking up, washing your hands, maintaining six-foot social distancing and avoiding large groups.

Coles County reported seven new COVID cases on Monday, while Shelby County reported four new cases. Fayette County reported 17 new COVID cases over the weekend, and Clay County reported four new cases on Monday. Jasper County reported eight new cases over the weekend. 

Statewide, there were 2,312 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, and just 16 COVID-related deaths, none in our area.

Since January 26, information for 41 additional locations is now listed on the coronavirus.illinois.gov website, including the Cumberland County Health Department and the Jasper County Health Department.
