18 New COVID Cases in County Reported Thursday

The Effingham County Health Department Thursday announced the COVID-related death of a man in his 80s. The Department also reported 18 new positive COVID cases.
The demographics are:
MALES--one less than 10 years old, one in his teens, one in his 20s, two in their 30s, one in his 60s, and one in his 70s
FEMALES--three in their teens, two in their 20s, two in their 30s, one in her 60s, and three in their 70s
Illinois Region 6 test positivity seven-day rolling average at 6% through January 18, and Effingham County came in at 9.2% for the same period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,979 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease Thursday.
There 123 COVID-related deaths in the state Thursday. Besides the death in Effingham County, a female in her 20s died in Coles County, and a male in his 60s died in Marion County.
There are 662 patients in the ICU with COVID statewide, and 358 patients with COVID on ventilators.
