Darren Bailey has begun his second term in the Illinois General Assembly, but his first term in the Illinois Senate.

Bailey served a term as 109th District State Representative, then was elected 55th District State Senator in November. Bailey is succeeding Dale Righter of Mattoon, who did not seek another term.

Bailey, a farmer and lifelong resident of Clay County, has been married for 34 years. He and wife Cindy have four children and 10 grandchildren. His term runs through 2022.

Ray Watt spoke with Sen. Bailey about his new term and the pressing problems facing the 102nd General Assembly. Here's their conversation...

Senator Bailey will continue to operate his district office at 152 S. Church St. in Louisville, and will also take over former Senator Righter's district office at 88 Broadway Avenue, Suite 1, Mattoon. His website is available at SenDarrenBailey.com.
