23 New COVID-19 Cases in Effingham County Tuesday; One COVID-Related Death

The Effingham County Health Department Tuesday reported a COVID-related death, that of a male in his 80s.

There were 23 positive cases of COVID-19 reported in the county on Tuesday. That pushes the total number of positive COVID cases in the county since the pandemic began past 4,000, to 4,003. 

Here's the demographic breakdown for Tuesday:\

MALE: one in his 30s, four in their 40s, one in his 60s, one in his 70s

FEMALE: four in their teens, three in their 20s, five in their 30s, three in their 40s, one in his 50s

Illinois Region 6 test positivity seven-day rolling average was 9.1% through January 2, and Effingham County came in at 15.5% for the same period.

The Health Department reminds us to stay home if we are sick or waiting on test results. We are asked to do our part in reducing the spread of COVID by masking up properly, washing hands regularly, maintaining six-foot social distancing, and avoiding large groups.
