Tuesday's State & County COVID Numbers

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 5,644 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 106 additional deaths on Tuesday.

There were two area deaths from area counties in the IDPH report, a male in his 70s in Clay County and a male in his 80s in Marion County. 

The Effingham County Health Department announced twenty-four new positive test results on Tuesday.

Illinois Region 6 test positivity 7-day rolling average is 8.3 % through December 26 and EffinghamCounty is 10.6% for the same period.

As of Monday night, 4,313 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 904 patients were in the ICU and 506 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
