We gave you the rundown earlier this month as to who filed as candidates for school board in Effingham County districts.

That included the Teutopolis Unit 50 school district. However, the Effingham County Clerk's office has reported that three of the candidates will vie for just two seats on the Teutopolis board.

Michael Ritchie, Brandon Pals and Courtney Tegeler are all seeking election from Teutopolis Township Range 8 North and 6 East. One person is already on the Board from that township and range and are in the middle of their term, so are not up for re-election. As guidelines now stand, no more than three people from a given township and range can serve on a school board.

Tegeler is the one of the three candidates who is currently serving on the Board.

Of the other Teutopolis candidates running for a full term, Erin Ordner is the only one running from St. Francis Township and range 8 north and 7 east, so can be elected. Ordner is an incumbent.

There are two candidates running for a two-year unexpired term...Toby McMahon and Troy Ozenkoski. Both could be elected. Ozenkoski is an incumbent.

The election is in April.

The Teutopolis school board discussed earlier this month whether to ask the district's voters to change the guidelines and have school board candidates elected at-large, rather than use the township limits. The issue is expected to be discussed further at the Board's January meeting.
