Arrest in Local Home Invasion Incident

An arrest has been made in a local home invasion that occurred Tuesday night.

Effingham City Police report 31-year-old Dylan Hampton of Louisville was arrested at the scene of the incident.

Police report officers responded at 7:02pm to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Hendelmeyer Avenue regarding the home invasion. Officers determined that a man had entered the garage while the resident was at home. The homeowner confronted the suspect and sustained minor injuries because of the confrontation. The resident fled the residence to phone 911. Officers entered the residence and detained Hampton.

Hampton was arrested on a charge of home invasion, as well as aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to Effingham County Jail.

Police say they are continuing their investigation, but believe Hampton was acting alone.
