Two County COVID-Related Deaths Reported Friday

The Illinois Department of Public Health Friday reported 9,420 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois. That number includes 190 COVID-related deaths.

There were COVID-related deaths in area counties, including two in Effingham County; those were a female in her 80s and a male in his 90s.

Also in the area: a male in his 60s in Clay County, a female in her 60s in Marion County, and a male in his 70s in Shelby County.

On Friday there were 39 new COVID cases in Effingham County, Fayette County is reported 40 new positive cases. There were 23 new cases in Shelby County. While Coles County reported 102 new cases. The Marion County Health Department also reported 71 new cases. 

Clay County Health Department reported 16 new cases on Thursday. 

As of Thursday night, there were 5,141 people in Illinois in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,081 patients were in the ICU and 635 patients were on ventilators.
