Five COVID-Related Deaths in County Reported Wednesday

Five COVID-related deaths in Effingham County were reported Wednesday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Those deaths were those of a female in her 70s, a male in his 70s, a female in her 80s, and two females in their 90s.

There were other area county deaths; a male in his 60s and a female in her 90s in Marion County, and a female in her 80s and a male in his 80s in Shelby County.

IDPH also reported 8,256 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, including 179 additional deaths.

As of Tuesday night, 5,284 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,176 patients were in the ICU and 647 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
