61 New Cases, Two Additional COVID-related Deaths Reported in Effingham County Friday

Effingham County's Health Department Friday reported 61 new cases of COVID-19, and two additional deaths.

The COVID-related deaths of two women, one in her 70s, and one in her 80s, are being investigated. In total, IDPH reported five area deaths Friday.

The 7-day rolling positivity average for Region 6 is 12.4% through December 1, while Effingham County remained the same, at 22.2% for the same period.

Health officials continue to urge residents to follow safety guidelines to help reduce community spread of the virus, especially as the holidays draw closer.
