Illinois Sees Largest Number of COVID-19 Deaths in 24-Hour Period

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the largest number of deaths in any 24-hour period Wednesday since the beginning of the pandemic.

238 deaths were reported, along with 9,757 positive COVID-19 cases.

Several COVID related deaths were reported in area counties. That includes a female in her 70s in Clay County; a male in his 90s in Coles County; a female in her 80s in Cumberland County; a male in his 60s in Effingham County; a female in her 70s and a female in her 80s in Fayette County; a female in her 60s in Jasper County; and two females in her 60s, two females in her 70s, one male in his 70s, one female in her 80s, and one female in her 90s in Marion County.
