Effingham Man Arrested on Drug, Weapons Counts

Altamont city police arrested an Effingham man Tuesday on drugs and weapons charges.

Altamont Police Chief Alan Heiens said 46-year-old Kevin W. Ashbrook was arrested following a traffic stop and a subsequent search of the vehicle in which Ashbrook was traveling. 

The charges lodged against Ashbrook included aggravated possession of methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with a FOID card, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Ashbrook is due in court on January 7.
