COVID Deaths in Effingham, Area Counties Reported Wednesday

A COVID-19 related death in Effingham County was reported Wednesday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The IDPH reports the person was a male in his 90s. That follows three deaths of females in their 90s reported Monday.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said Wednesday that of 26 deaths in the county so for this month, 13 of them are COVID-related.

A COVID-related death was also reported in Fayette County...a male in his 80s...and in Coles County...a male in his 90s.

The IDPH reported 8,922 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in the state Wednesday, as well as 140 additional deaths.

Those numbers bring the number of cases in the state past 600,000 and the number of COVID-related deaths to more than 11,000.
