A day after Illinois topped 15,000 new and probable cases of COVID-19 for the first time, officials reported 11,028 new cases Saturday.

166 additional deaths were also reported, bringing the statewide death toll to 10,670.

IDPH director Dr. Ngozi Ezike noted during Friday’s COVID-19 state briefing that due to a data reporting issue there was a delay in deaths reported that day. An IDPH release indicates 66 of the deaths “that occurred yesterday are being reported with today’s total.”
