Single Vehicle Accident on I-70 Friday Afternoon

State Police report at 12:35 Friday afternoon a van driven by Sal J. Martin, 35 of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 at Milepost 86 four miles east of Altamont. 

Martin was attempting to pass another vehicle while driving on the left shoulder and in the median. After failing to pass, he attempted to re-enter the roadway but overcorrected and crossed both eastbound lanes. The van then left the roadway to the right and overturned.

Martin was completely ejected from the van and was airlifted to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Martin was charged with Driving While License Suspended, Improper Lane Use, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
