Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Watson Sunday

Two people were injured when two vehicles collided near Watson Sunday afternoon.

The collision happened just before 4pm on US Route 45, a quarter-mile south of 800th Avenue. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a SUV driven by 46-year-old Edith Garrett of Edgewood and a pickup truck driven by 48-year-old Kevin Garrett of Edgewood were both southbound. Kevin Garrett slowed for a car pulling out of a business, and Edith Garrett's vehicle struck a trailer being pulled by Kevin Garrett's vehicle from behind. Edith Garrett's vehicle drove over Kevin Garrett's trailer and onto the bed of Kevin Garrett's vehicle, striking the vehicle.

Edith Garrett was injured and was taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Kevin Garrett refused treatment.
