Altamont Man Injured When Motorcycle Struck by Deer

An Altamont man was injured Monday when his motorcycle was struck by a deer.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 43-year-old Justin Jackson was westbound on US Route 40 west of 575th Street in Mound Township when the crash happened just after noon. Deputies say the cycle was struck by a deer running north across the highway. The cycle skidded off the highway and Jackson was partially ejected from the unit.

Jackson was airlifted by Air Evac from the scene to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
