Thirty-two New Positive Cases In Effingham County

The Effingham County Health Department received notice of 32 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Thursday along with the death of a male in his 90s was announced by the IDPH.

Of the 32 new cases, one was a female under 10, two were male teens and one a female teen, three females in their 20's, five males and three females in their 30's, five males and two females in their 40's, two males and five females in their 50's, two females in their 60's and one female in her 70's.

The State IDPH Mobile COVID-19 Testing Unit will return to Effingham today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be located at the Effingham County Health Department, 901 W. Virginia Avenue.

This service is availble to anyone seeking testing. No appointment or physician order required. There is no charge to individuals for the COVID testing. Please present insurance card at time of service, no one will be denied due to having no insurance. There is no fee to you but billing insurance will help pay for the service, allowing more individuals the same opportunity.

The Effingham County Health Department asks everyone to do their part in reducing the spread of COVID by masking up properly, washing hands regularly, maintaining 6 feet social distancing and avoiding large groups.

The Shelby County Health Department announced 10 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and one death.

A 40-year-old male, a 49-year-old male, a 54-year-old male and a 57-year-old male are presenting mild symptoms. A 63-year-old female is asymptomatic. An 82-year-old male and an 89-year-old male have been hospitalized. A male in his 70's that tested positive previously has died. A 50-year-old male, a 54-year-old male and a 55-year-old female are still under investigation.

The Coles County Health Department is reporting additional confirmed COVID-19 cases. As of October 22, the case count is 1,925 with seven currently hospitalized, 1,646 recovered, 38 deceased and 234 recovering.

Clark  County has reported one female in her 70's has died.
