Fire Destroys Barn Outside Teutopolis

Fire destroyed a barn just north of Teutopolis Sunday night.

Teutopolis Fire Protection District firefighters were summoned at 7:30pm to a barn owned by Allan Koester at 17938 E. 1700th Avenue. The barn was fully involved in flames when firefighters reached the scene, and there were exposures to outbuildings. The fire was confined to the barn, which contained some livestock and some bales of straw. Montrose firefighters were called to the scene on automatic aid.

Firefighters began clearing the scene at 9:39pm, with the last engine company leaving at 10:15pm.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates are still being determined.
