A Terre Haute woman was fatally injured when thrown from a vehicle in a crash in Clark County.

26-year-old Alissa Griffith was the front seat passenger in a SUV driven by 27-year-old Shasta Hawes of Paris. Griffith was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in a rural part of Clark County at 10:49pm Saturday.

State police report Hawes failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the SUV. The unit ran off the left side of the road, then overturned end over end and came to rest on its top.

Neither Hawes nor another passenger were injured in the crash.

Hawes was cited for reckless homicide, DUI alcohol, and improper lane usage.
