Broken Roots Reach Finals on AGT

The Chicago-based duo with local ties known as Broken Roots have advanced to the finals on "America's Got Talent" on NBC-TV.

One-half of the duo is Effingham native Austin Weinstock, who performs professionally as Austin Edwards. 

It's quite a story for the pair (the other half is Joey Kar). They were originally eliminated by the judges, but were called back after another performers was quarantined due to COVID-19. Now, they've reached the finals.

The clincher was Broken Roots' performance of Blake Shelton's "God's Country" on Tuesday night's show. The enthusiasm of the judges (especially Howie Mandel) and the votes of viewers earned them a spot in the finals.
