Tractor and Car Collide in Cumberland County; One Person Killed

A car and tractor collided Friday morning in Cumberland County and the driver of the car was killed in the crash.

27-year-old Hannah M. Watson-Reano of Neoga was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Cumberland County Coroner Steven Sherwood. 

The driver of the tractor, 69-year-old Gary W. Jones of Lerna, was injured and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with what were termed non life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened at 8:47am at the intersection of Cumberland County Roads 1200 North and 900 East, just east of Neoga. Illinois State Police report Jones was sweeping off the right shoulder of the roadway for Cottonwood Township. Police say Watson-Reano failed to slow down and struck the rear of the tractor. 

The crash is still being investigated by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
