Beecher City resident Aaron Kaiser was found guilty Wednesday afternoon of concealment of homicidal death in connection with the fatal shooting of Kimberly Mattingly.

An Effingham County jury needed just 39 minutes to reach a guilty verdict.

Kaiser said it was fear of Christopher Glass of Mason that led him to go along with helping Glass bury the body in a pit on property owned by Kaiser's parents early in April, then lie to authorities about knowing Mattingly or anything about her death. Testimony, though, established that Kaiser had opportunities when Glass wasn't around to assist Mattingly or to contact authorities about the incident. That included days after the shooting when Kaiser was questioned by both county and state police authorities.

Kaiser faces up to two to five years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for October 30.

Glass is to go on trial for the murder of Mattingly on September 28.
