The murder trial of Mason resident Christopher Glass has been postponed to September, but the concealment of homicidal death of Aaron Kaiser of Beecher City is still set for later this month.

(KIMBERLY MATTINGLY)

The 36-year-old Glass is charged with three counts of first degree murder, as well as concealment of homicidal death and a parole violation from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Glass is charged in the death of 29-year-old Kimberly Mattingly of Paris. Mattingly had been missing since April 5 before her body was discovered April 29 on land owned by Kaiser's family near Beecher City, where Aaron Kaiser lived. Authorities say Glass admitted shooting Mattingly and that Kaiser admitted assisting Glass in disposing of the body.

(GLASS)

Glass had been scheduled to go on trial August 24. Effingham County Public Defender Scott Schmidt told Judge Michael McHaney Thursday that they are making progress, but that there is still too much evidence to review to go to trial this month. Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said he had no objection to a continuance as long as it is attributed to Glass.

The judge agreed to reschedule Glass' trial for September 28, with a pre-trial hearing on September 17.

(KAISER)

Kaiser's trial, though, will proceed on August 24. Conflicts Public Defender Lucas Mette said they will be ready for trial. Mette did ask for another pre-trial hearing to make sure things are in order. Judge McHaney set the pre-trial hearing for August 18.

Glass remains in custody under $5 million bond. Kaiser is in custody under $750,000 bond.
