Emergency Grants Awarded to Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19

The governor and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has announced $46 million in small business grants have been released to 2,655 small businesses located in more than 400 individual cities and spread across 78 counties.

The Business Interruption Grant, or BIG, program is awarding funds to businesses impacted negatively by COVID-19. There will also be future rounds of grant awards.

The recipients in this area include:

Tolliver & Co. Barbers of Effingham--$10,000

Debenham Hospitality Group, doing business as Joe Sipper's Cafe of Effingham--$20,000

K-Moe Tavern of St. Peter--$20,000

Truckers Pub of Effingham--$20,000

Westside Lounge of Newton--$20,000

The funds may be used to help businesses with working capital expenses, including payroll costs, rent, utilities and equipment.
