Cowden-Herrick school board members Thursday took action on several items at a special meeting.

The Board employed Clint Lorton as high school cross country coach and Consuela Lorton as his volunteer assistant, contingent upon a cross country season taking place. Board members also accepted resignations of Mrs. Kirby and Mrs. Hopkins.

Board members accepted The Upchurch Group's electric work change order for the Herrick campus, and approved the district's back-to-school plan. Cowden-Herrick's first day of school will be August 20.

Cowden-Herrick has also announced that registration for the coming school year will be this Wednesday and Thursday, August 5 and 6. The schedule will be: students with last names beginning with A thru K on August 5 from 2 to 4pm and 5 to 7pm...and those with last names beginning with L thru Z on August 6 from 2 to 4pm and 5 to 7pm.

The wearing of face masks will be required for entering the building.

New school hours at Cowden-Herrick will be from 8am to 2pm.
