Coronavirus 2020

Effingham County Health Department received notice of three new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease Thursday.

A male less than one year old has had contact with persons testing positive for COVID. A female in her 20s and a male in his 70s have had no known contact with a positive case.

All are doing well in isolation.

Staff members responsible for reaching out to persons testing positive for COVID-19 and to their close contacts are called “Contact Tracers.” These individuals inform persons of their responsibility to quarantine or isolate at home while they are contagious or have potential to develop illness. Contact tracers connect people with resources to ensure their needs are being met while at home. Such needs might include grocery pick-up, medication delivery, or connecting them to a testing facility. Contact tracers reach out to every person every day to ensure they are able to continue to quarantine safely. Effingham County Health Department is seeking to hire additional contact tracing staff members, specifically individuals with clinical skills such as nursing. Nurses may assist not only with contact tracing, but also with COVID testing and/or mass vaccination when it becomes available. Positions are full-time and include a menu of benefits. Persons interested in battling the spread of COVID can apply online at www.effcohealth.org.
