Jobless Rate Fell in Illinois for June, but Still at 14.6%

The Illinois unemployment rate for June fell, but still remained at 14.6%. The May rate was 15.3%. 

The state did add 142,800 jobs in June, a record monthly increase according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

In June, the three industry sectors with the largest over-the-month gains in employment were Leisure and Hospitality, Trade, Transportation and Utilities; and Education and Health Services. 

Compared to a year ago, nonfarm payroll employment decreased by almost 600,000 jobs.
