Case of Stewardson Man Could Go to Problem Solving Court

The case of a man from Stewardson who was arrested in March while heavily armed could go to Problem Solving Court.

34-year-old Arend Poe was arrested in the early morning hours outside the residence of a relative in Effingham. Poe was taken into custody without incident. He was wearing body armor and was in possession of multiple firearms, including one AR-15. He faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and disorderly conduct.

During a court hearing Wednesday, Poe's bond was reduced from $500,000 to $100,000 with the stipulation that if he posts bond it will be under electronic home confinement.

The hearing on whether Poe will enter Problem Solving Court is set for Augut 24.
