Meetings Around the Area Today, Tonight

Several meetings are scheduled around the area today and tonight to address significant topics.

The Effingham Unit 40 school board's curriculum committee meets at 9am via the school district's Zoom app. The chief topic will be the approaching school year.

The Effingham County Board's Legislative Committee will be meeting as a Committee of the Whole. Meeting time is 2pm at the County Office Building in the 3rd floor Board Meeting Room. The proposed expansion of the landfill is among the topics. The discussion has been postponed recently due to the elevator renovation project and COVID-19.

The Effingham Water Authority Board will meet at 5:30pm at the Community Building at Lake Sara at 9282 East Park Avenue. Short-term rentals is among the items on the agenda. The issue has been a topic for several months.

The Altamont City Council meets at 6pm at the Municipal Building. At 6:30, though, the Council will conduct an update on the proposal for a city-wide water main replacement project.

The Altamont Board of Education will meet in the grade school cafeteria. The Board will hold a public hearing at 6pm on the possible subcontracting for food service. In regular business at 7pm, the Board could vote on the issue.
