Dieterich village board members this week awarded a bid for work on the Liberty Park pond.

Tebbe Excavating will work to clean the pond in preparation for installation of a fishing pier. The work will take place following harvest so the material cleaned from the pond can be placed on farmfields.

The work will cost $54,181.40.

The Board also agreed to make available additional utility easements along Pine Street. The easements will benefit AmerenIllinois, which plans to relocate electric lines from overhead to underground.

Board members allocated Motor Fuel Tax funds for street maintenance, approved an updated ordinance regulating solicitors, transient merchants and itinerant vendors to require those individuals to register with the Village before operating in the village, okayed an ordinance providing directives so residents will have to maintain the ditches by their property, and discussed amending the village's water meter installation fee with action to come later.

It was also reported that water and sewer utilities are 95% completed in the village's Industrial Park East.
