Dieterich School Board Had a Busy Night

Dieterich Unit #30 School Board met last night at 6:15 for a public hearing for the FY 2020 Amended Budget. No public comments were offered and the hearing was closed at 6:30pm and then the Regular Board Meeting began where they approved the FY2020 Amended Budget. Superintendent Cary Jackson presented the amended budget with minor changes to satisfy requirements within the budget. All funds will end the fiscal year under the originally projected budget amounts.

 

Among several item covered by the Board accepted a letter of retirement from Mrs. Gina May, a 5th grade teacher. Mrs. May will be retiring at the end of the 2023 school year. The Board hired Hope Watts as a summer worker and Ryan Wohltman as high school boys JV basketball coach. The support staff was granted a 3.6% pay increase for the upcoming school year.

Doug Baxter will serve as the Eastern Illinois Area Special Education Governing Board Member with Thad Goebel as the alternate. Board members Anita Bierman and Diane Aherin agreed to represent Dieterich CUSD 30 at the County School Board Member meeting scheduled for June 23rd at Altamont High School. 

The Board chose to seek proposals for architectural services, including a facility assessment report. Reviewed an estimate for electrical work in the elementary school with no action taken, and renewed the food service management contract with OPAA! Food Management for the upcoming school year. Dieterich has experienced an increase in participation rates since partnering with OPAA!

The Dieterich Board also accepted a $1,000.00 donation from EJ Water for allowing them to host their annual meeting at the school and heard from Quality Network Solution’s Justin Polanin regarding new servers for the District. Mr. Polanin was able to answer questions and provide information regarding QNS which provides network support and technology assistance for the school.
